Passing of Warren Mills
October 17, 2012
Sadly another Optimist is no longer with us. We have just learned that Warren Mills passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Warren wore the Blue with Opti-Corps, then both Greens of the Toronto Optimists. He aged out in 1962. When the Alumni Corps was formed, Warren joined, playing mellophone. Unfortunately, after a few years health issues forced him to leave the corps.

MILLS, Warren (Retired teacher from Central Technical School, Toronto) (Member of the Toronto Optimists Drum & Bugle Corps and the Optimists Alumni) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Warren Mills, after a lengthy illness, at the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, October 17th, 2012 at the age of 72. Beloved husband of Cheryl (nee Kearns). Father of Gord Mills. Dad to Jennifer Toste and grandfather of Sarah & Matthew Toste. Son of Mary McCleverty (Harry) and the late Gordon Mills. Sadly missed by his sister Shirley Terveld (Jack) and by his nieces and nephews. Dear brother-in-law of Wendy Morgan (Steve). Remembered always by his devoted friends who were like family, especially Henry & Carol Beben, Jim & Helen Patten and Phil & Betty Hennings. Warren was an inspiration, a gift of sunshine, and a true blessing. Following cremation, visitation will be held at St. David's Anglican Church, 113 James St., Orillia on Tuesday, October 23rd from 12 noon until time of Memorial Service to Celebrate Warren's Life at 1 p.m. If desired, memorial donations to the Parkinson Society would be appreciated. Passing of Carol Munro
September 16, 2012
Unfortunately we have tell you about the passing of yet another Optimist. We have just learned that Carol Munro passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012. Carol passed peacefully, in her sleep, with her Mom and brother at her side.
Carol played Bass Drum with the Optimists Alumni and bells with the Oakland Crusaders. Prior to joining Oakies she marched with the Etobicoke Lancers.
Obituary
Gun Munro, Carol Ann: Lois and Richard Gun Munro are deeply saddened at the passing of her daughter, his sister Carol Ann Gun Munro on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Ian Anderson House in Oakville. Carol attended Rosethorn Elementary, Etobicoke Collegiate. She received her Bachelor of Science from Ryerson Polytechnic specializing in Project Management. At 13, Carol joined the Etobicoke Lancers and started a 40+ year involvement in Drum & Bugle Corps. She was an active member of Toronto Optimists Alumni, Canadian Ski Patrol for 20 years, and an ardent ARGO fan and season ticket holder. She will be dearly missed by many family and friends. A Celebration of Carol's life will be held at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave) on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 1 p.m with 2 hours of visitation prior. In memory of Carol's life, donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation or Ian Anderson House.
