WELCOME to the official website of the Optimists Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps.

This is the place for you to Learn About Our Corps, its History, Find Out About Joining and to keep current with its plans and progress. If you're feeling nostalgic, why not visit our Photo Gallery. You'll find photos that range from the initial Boy Scout band in the 1950s all the way to our most recent performance. And it's not just about us. Our Photo Galleries include shots of many other corps.

Visitors are welcome at all of our rehearsals. If you would like to attend a rehearsal, please visit our Combined Schedule page to learn the dates and locations of our rehearsals.

Interested in Having Fun and Entertaining Others?

Perform with The Optimists Alumni Party Gras Band!

In 2016 we decided to head to Indianapolis and compete in DCI SoundSport. We replaced our old music with a repertoire based on a Mardi Gras theme and, to enhance the visual aspect, we experimented with Mummers' costumes instead of our green uniforms. That experiment was highly successful and we returned home with a Gold Medal. In 2017 we expanded our "Party Gras" show and spent two weeks on an extremely successful tour of South Korea. For the 2018 season we expanded our repertoire to include a calypso number and a couple of songs by Queen. In August of 2018 we returned to Indianapolis and came home with another Gold Medal!

Our new style is definitely not traditional Drum Corps but it is fun! More importantly, the audience loves the changes! We're excited about this new direction and we hope that you, too, will enjoy our show.  Check us out. Better yet, Come and Join us!

Why join? We’re having more fun than we've ever had and it's even more fun to share with friends. We travel a little, hang out with old friends, make new ones and we get to entertain others which leaves both them and us happy. Of course, we do have to rehearse; however, at two rehearsals a month our schedule is lighter than other Alumni Corps. Perhaps you're concerned about learning to play all over again? I'd be lying if I said that it would not require some effort; however, this is a hobby and we do it for fun. The skill level of our members varies and, while none of us are stars, we work together to create a great show. We're looking for people who share our enthusiasm and are willing to make a commitment to the corps while striving to improve. Of course, if you don't want to play but are interested in what we do there is always room for support staff and colour guard members.

Everyone is welcome at our rehearsals. Even if you’re not interested in joining, feel free to drop in for a look and a listen. We love to have an audience. Who knows, you might just decide that you'd enjoy doing this. Interested? To learn more please Click Here.

Historical Video Footage

We are looking for video footage of Opti Corps, the Toronto Optimists and the Seneca Optimists. This is a search for memories, not great technique. If you have video footage that you would like to donate to the corps, please contact  Bob Carell (toronto_optimist at rogers.com).

If you want to see the videos that we already have, please visit our Video page.
